Pre-Surgery Escape

Megan did it!

    Megan went in for surgery today. We're note sure how long it will take her to recover, but it probably won't be fun. We thought it would be a good idea to take a short vacation and have some fun before she's stuck at home recovering. So we planned a fun weekend and headed up to Leavenworth.
    We only spent a couple of days there. The first day, we watched the Sound of Music at the nice Leavenworth Summer Theater. Megan loved the play and Mike enjoyed being outdoors with Megan. The play was pretty good too.
    The next day, we went whitewater rafting. It was something Megan had on her to-do list for a while and Leavenworth offered some great opportunities for it.
    We picked a short route that went over a couple sets of rapids. Megan did great, she hiked around the mountain to get to where our rafts waited and she paddled the raft like a pro! We only fell in once - when the guide purposefully tipped us over at the end of the trip. At that point, it was a refreshing dip in the river.
    It was good to get away and have some fun before Megan's surgery. I'm a little worried that we've just whetted her appetite for whitewater rafting. The guide told us we should come back next June, the water is higher in the river and the ride is a little more exciting. I could see the gears turning in Megan's head.
